Mistletoe Margarita Recipe - A Festive Christmas And NYE Cocktail

This year, my husband and I (and our sweet pup!) bought our first house. And with a new house comes… a lot of holiday hosting!

So for our first Christmas in our first house, I wanted to serve a drink that looks really impressive and festive but is super easy to make. So my festive cocktail of choice this year was a delicious Mistletoe Margarita! 💋🎄

The Mistletoe Margarita has been a big hit over the holidays at my house and I hope you enjoy it, too! 💋

✨ Large Batch Mistletoe Margarita recipe ✨

Prep: 5 min  | Serves: about 8

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 cups cranberry juice

  • 2 cups orange juice

  • 1 lime freshly squeezed

  • 4 cups tequila

  • 1 cup triple sec

  • Cranberries

  • Rosemary sprigs

  • Salt or sugar

DIRECTIONS

In a pitcher or a cocktail dispenser mix:

  • 8 cups cranberry juice

  • 2 cups orange juice

  • 1 lime freshly squeezed

  • 4 cups tequila

  • 1 cup triple sec

Stir together.

*NOTE: If you’re making a “special drink” for the kids or a mocktail, you can serve just the cranberry juice + orange juice + lime! They love it!

TO SERVE

  • Wipe lime around rim of margarita glass

  • Fill a small plate with salt or sugar

  • Dip the wet rim of the glass into the salt or sugar and twist gently until evenly coated (shake off any excess salt or sugar over a sink)

  • Pour mix from pitcher into the margarita glass

  • Add ice cubes

  • Add a sprig of fresh rosemary

  • Add a lime wedge

  • Add in a few cranberries because they look cute ;)

  • Enjoy!

Optional Festive Ice Cubes Recipe ✨

Prep: 10 min  | Freeze overnight

If you want to add a little somethin’ somethin’ to this drink, you can make cranberry ice cubes! (Just make sure you prep the ice cubes the night before so they have time to freeze.) These ice cubes are not only gorgeous and make the drink extra festive, but they are super practical because they are made with cranberry juice. So, when your ice starts to melt, it doesn’t water down the drink!

I recommend getting silicone ice cube trays like the ones I used from Amazon here.

  • Lay fresh rosemary sprigs into the ice cube molds

  • Put 1-2 cranberries into each ice cube mold depending on the size

  • Pour cranberry juice into the ice cube tray

  • Freeze overnight

Optional Ornament Shot Glasses ✨

Prep: 20 min  | Keep in refrigerator until ready to serve

Okay, this is a step further, but it’s just so dang cute! For Christmas, I put tequila shots into fillable “boozeball” ornaments. You can find them on Amazon here.

*NOTE: If you go this route, only add 3 cups of tequila to your main large batch mixture since people will be adding a shot via the ornament to their personal drink.

INGREDIENTS FOR 8 “BOOZEBALL” ORNAMENTS

  • 1 cup tequila

  • Red food coloring

  • Ribbon

  • “Boozeball” ornaments

DIRECTIONS

  • Pour a shot of tequila into ornament (use a funnel if needed)

  • Add 1 drop of red food coloring to each ornament for color

  • Tie a pretty ribbon on the ornament to complete the look

  • Keep in refrigerator until ready to serve

  • Serve 1 ornament with each Mistletoe Margarita - your guest can pour the shot into their drink

Enjoy, my friends! And happy holidays!
