Haylie’s Dailies Slow Cook Hot Cocoa Recipe

We all know that magical scene in The Santa Clause where Little Elf Judy presents Scott Calvin (AKA Santa) with the most dreamy cup of cocoa you’ve ever seen and says,

“My own recipe. Took me twelve-hundred years to get it right.”

This scene made me want to make my own hot cocoa recipe for 1200 years and also be Judy the elf. And today, one of those things has come true >> I’m sharing my delicious hot cocoa recipe with you!

This recipe is super simple to make, incredibly creamy, and downright delicious!

So, before another Santa falls off the roof, here’s the recipe that Judy herself would be proud to serve. Enjoy!

✨Haylie’s Dailies Slow Cook Cocoa✨

~ Recipe:

Prep Time: 5 minutes // Cook Time: 2 hours // Total Time: 2 hours 5 minutes // Serves: Approximately 6

~ Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

  • 6 cups whole milk (or milk of choice)

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream

  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

  • Toppings of choice for serving: whipped cream, candy canes, mini marshmallows, sprinkles, etc.

~ Instructions:

  1. Prepare the milk:

    • Either microwave one cup of milk until scalding or heat it on the stovetop in a pan (not boiling, just super hot)

  2. Whisk in cocoa:

    • Gently whisk the unsweetened cocoa powder into the scalding milk until well combined

  3. Combine ingredients in slow cooker:

    • In a slow cooker, combine sweetened condensed milk, whole milk (or your milk of choice), heavy whipping cream, vanilla extract, and semi-sweet chocolate chips

    • Stir in the cocoa and milk mixture, ensuring it blends seamlessly with the other ingredients

  4. Slow cook to perfection:

    • Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 2 hours - remember to stir often to ensure the chocolate chips melt evenly

  5. Drink and be merry:

    • Ladle into your favorite holiday mug and doll it up with your favorite delicious toppings

May your days be merry and your cocoa be delicious. Cheers!
